What Parts Are Included in a CKD Refrigerator Kit?
we know the max margin on selling a refrigerator is under CKD mode and do local assembly.
but what will a CKD refrigerator kit include? before answer this qustion, let’s see below to well understand its structure and how it is manufactured.
Ask BOM List
What components make up a refrigerator and how they are manufactured?
From a visual perspective, a refrigerator (let’s take an example of top mount refrigerator ) include the cabinet, the door, inside glass shelves, fruit box, thermostat.
however, it involved more parts which are not seen from outside. these parts are assembled into the cabinet and the door.
below is the pics shows its structure.
from above structure, we could see:
A refrigerator mainly includes two parts: the cabinet and the door.
A. The cabinet includes the outer shell and its inner liner.
1. the cabinet shell is made from PCM (pre-coated metal sheet, with embossed finish) .
the PCM sheet becomes a shell through positioning, cutting, rolling, bending process. this part requires rolling machine and molds.
2. the inner liner is made from HIPS ( kind of plastic), and processed in thermoforming by thermoforming machine.
3. the cabinet inner liner is wrapped by evaporator and suction pipe assembly which include suction pipe, Capillary tube, Aluminum foil tape, Heat‑shrink tube, etc, to connect with compressor.
4. Main internal wire harness are pre‑mounted on the outer side of inner liner, embedded inside foam layer, not exposed inside the storage box, its function is to connect the thermostat, collect internal cabinet temperature and control the start‑stop of the compressor.
5. then the outer shell and inner liner are assembled together. at the bottom of the cabinet, it is installed with a base plate to support the unit and it allows compressor space.
then the back panel is installed to complete the whole unit.
6. the next step is foaming.
7. after foamed, the next step: install the thermostat, compressor bottom plate, hinges, and lock hook (if the fridge is with a lock).
B. The door includes the door shell and door inner liner.
a. the door shell is made from PCM (roll-coating finish), processed by cutting and bending. a door frame is assembled in the top and bottom of the shell.
b. the door linner is made from HIPS ( kind of plastic), and processed in thermoforming by thermoforming machine.
c. move on the foaming part, foaming for refrigerator door is performed as follows: two sets of upper and lower moulds are used. The door liner is placed in the upper mould, and the door shell in the lower mould.
d. Foaming material is injected onto the door shell.
After the upper and lower moulds are closed, the assembly moves into the oven tunnel for curing.
Normally, the curing time on one foaming line is around 10-15 minutes.
After the cabinet and door parts are foamed, they go into the assembly process:
The Foamed Cabinet and the Foamed Door are assembled together.
After the door assembly and cabinet are assembled, the compressor is fitted, wiring is completed, the water drip tray is installed, and welding inspection is carried out.
The unit then undergoes vacuum pumping, refrigerant charging, safety inspection, decorative label application, assembly of door shelves & glass shelves, put warranty card/ice box/shovel/key/handles
Decorative label pasting, cleaning, and packaging.
after clearly know the refrigerator structure, we could know the CKD kits will include:
- The cabinet: PCM sheet, inner liner, evaporator tubes, suction tube sets, internal wireharness. middle beam, bottom plate, backpanel,
- The door: PCM sheet, door frame, inner liner.
- Other main parts: compressor, process tube, filter, compressor baseplate, related sizes of screws, alunimum foil tape, etc.
- Other main parts: door shelves, glas shelves, fruit boxes, warranty guards, ice box/shovels,
- Packing material: inner plastic bags, cartons, etc.
above is the mainly parts, but not 100% all in. usually we sent a complete detailed packing list to our clients once containers are loaded in our warehouse.
regarding what manchines and equipments are required to make the part, we will explain it in details in following articles.
