What's Included in a Standard Configuration (and What You Can Add)
Why Two "Same" Refrigerators Are Not the Same
every day we received enquires from different countries like this: how much is fridge 220L? or “pls send us the quotation of 400L chest freezer in CKD” . we understand the buyer would like to know the price immediatley, however, the quotation sheet received may differ a lot although they quoted based on same volume. the reason is mainly resulted from the different configuration.
In this article, we will clearly introduce what is included in a standard configuration and what you can add. let’s take SKD refrigerator for example.
What a Standard Configuration Includes
1. Cabinet & Door
standard: foamed cabinet and door with internal wires
option: door color, lock and key, handle types
2. Cooling system
standard: compressor, condenser, evaporator, capilary tube, drier filter, compressor accessories, compressor plate, process tube, welding rods
optional: :Compressors brand, and if require wide-voltage compressor
- condenser: outside and inside
- capilary tube: could be customzied shorter or longer for your assembly locally.
3. Electrical
standard: voltage /herz( 220V-240V/50HZ), Starter / Capacitor/FLP, thermostat, power cord
optional: Electronic temperature control, LED lighting, customizable voltage
for example, embraco brand compressor could be available with following specifications for option
4. Metal parts
hinges, screws, adjustal legs, covers, caps.
5. Interior & Accessories
standard: glass shelves, fruit box, icebox, door shelves, egg tray, warranty card, user manual
option: quantity of ice box, ice shovel, packing methord, egg tray.
6. Packings and Printings
standard: labels, bar code, logo, basic packing materials.
option: logo material/colors, cartons, warning labels, or any customized part.
Why "Standard" Differs Between Suppliers
You may get lost from dozens of quotation sheets, and you may evaluate your suppliers from following aspects:
Compressor brand
The compressor is the heart of the refrigerator. It decides cooling efficiency, noise, and how many years the unit keeps working. When you compare quotes, check whether the compressor brand and model are actually named. If a quote just says “standard compressor” or “quality compressor”, that’s a red flag — ask for the brand. A named, well-known compressor means better performance, fewer failures, and easier spare-part supply years later.
Sheet metal thickness
The cabinet shell is your fridge’s skeleton. Sheet metal thickness (typically 0.4–0.6 mm) and material (pre-painted steel vs cold-rolled steel with painting) decide how well the cabinet resists rust, dents, and years of heavy use. In hot, humid climates, thin cheap steel can show rust and deformation within a couple of years. Ask your supplier for the exact thickness and material before you compare prices.
Foam density
Between the inner liner and the outer shell, polyurethane foam is what keeps the cold in. Foam density and uniformity determine how well the cabinet is insulated. Poor foaming means the fridge works harder, uses more electricity, cools slowly, and sweats condensation on the outside — a serious problem in tropical markets. Check the rated energy consumption, and test the pull-down speed on a sample unit.
Door gasket quality
The door gasket is the seal that keeps cold air inside. A weak gasket means cold air leaks out — higher power bills, more frost, worse cooling. Check the magnetic pull, the flexibility of the material, and how tightly the door closes. Door gaskets are one of the most common after-sales parts, so starting with a good one saves everyone trouble.
Accessories included
Always confirm what the quoted price actually includes. Does it come with a power cord, user manual, warranty card, and installation parts? A cheap “unit-only” quote can end up costing more than a complete one once you add what’s missing. Ask for the full accessory list in writing.
